Julie Harmieson

Special Educational Needs / Thrive Lead

Julie Harmieson is Trust Lead: Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and Inclusion, for the Bright Tribe and also ALAT Trusts. She is responsible for providing training, support and challenge across the Trusts for SEMH, access to maximise learning and helping schools to support the emotional and social development of their students/pupils.

Julie, who has over 17 years experience in education, joined Bright Tribe in February 2017. She is an expert in trauma- and attachment-informed approaches to behaviour and learning, meeting the needs of vulnerable and challenging children and identification of individual needs in learning and behaviour.

Prior to joining Bright Tribe, Julie was South West Regional Development Manager and Senior Trainer for Thrive Approach, responsible for training and supporting adults to work with the most challenging and vulnerable of children in schools , as well as senior leadership SEMH Lead at Penryn Primary Academy, where she still in fact works too. She also held a post as Head Teacher at Chestnut Primary Alternative Provision, Torbay, and provided specialist provision for children excluded from mainstream school or in danger of permanent exclusion.
